9th April 2020
The Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) Limited (‘ALS’) continues to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We know that the upcoming months are going to be really challenging for our mob. It’s important that we come together to ensure no one is left behind in this crisis, and that justice is at the heart of our recovery.
The ALS is committed to providing services to Aboriginal communities in ACT and NSW, but we’ve made some changes to protect our staff, our clients and our communities due to the spread of COVID-19.
From Thursday 9 April all ALS offices will be temporarily closed to clients and the general public.
Whilst we will be limiting all non-essential ‘face-to-face' contact, our staff will continue to be hard at work supporting our communities and providing culturally safe legal help and other essential support.
We urge our clients with upcoming court matters and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in need of legal assistance to call or get in contact:
- Find your local office here
- 1800-765-767 - for police charges and criminal law matters
- 1800-733-233 - for care and protection law or family law matters
- Find information regarding Aboriginal tenancy support service here
You can also find further information and service updates via our Website, Facebook and Twitter.
We thank-you for your patience during this period. Stay strong and healthy.
Karly Warner, Chief Executive Officer
