ALS elects new Chairperson
Kamilaroi and Ngunnawal man, Jason Allan has been elected as Chairperson by the Board of the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) Limited (ALS).
Mr Allan was elected at a Board meeting held on Friday 25 August at Tweed Heads, following the resignation of former Chairperson Mark Davies.
On behalf of the Board and ALS community, Mr Allan extended his thanks to Mr Davies for his commitment and contributions over the past three years as Chairperson and five years as an ALS Director. Mr Davies remains an ALS Member.
Mr Allan has been an ALS Director since 2021. He brings over 25 years’ experience working to benefit community through federal, state and local government agencies. He has been Chief Executive Officer of the Walhallow Local Aboriginal Land Council since 2008, is a Councillor on the Liverpool Plains Shire Council, and has previously worked with ATSIC and Aboriginal Hostels Canberra.
“I look forward continuing the fight for social justice and equity as Chairperson of Australia’s oldest Aboriginal Legal Service,” Mr Allan said.
