Happy festive season from the ALS

UPDATED 7 January 2022

From everyone here at the ALS, we're wishing our clients, community and supporters a happy and safe holiday season.

Our staff will be taking a short break over Christmas and New Year to rest and recharge.

All ALS offices will be closed from 5pm Friday 24 December. We will re-open on Monday 10 January 2022. All visitors, volunteers and staff must wear face masks at all times in our offices, in keeping with government regulations.

If you need legal support from Tuesday 4 January, please call us on our toll-free numbers (open 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday):

  • 1800-765-767 for help with criminal law, police and court matters
  • 1800-733-233 for help with family law, and children’s care and protection matters

If you need legal help while our offices and phone lines are closed, LawAccess NSW is available on 1300 888 529 on weekdays (excluding public holidays). Legal Aid NSW's Duty Lawyer Scheme will provide representation for people with bail hearings over the Christmas and New Year period.

As usual, the ALS Custody Notification Service (CNS) will continue to operate 24/7 throughout the holidays. It is a requirement for police in NSW and the ACT to call the CNS whenever an Aboriginal person is taken into custody.

As we all know, the COVID-19 situation is changing by the day. We will keep community updated of any further changes to our office opening days/hours via our website and social media pages.

Stay safe and well over the holidays!
