A prison sentence should not be a death sentence.

Yet more than 475 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have died in jails and police custody over the last 30 years.

The Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody was meant to change this, but governments keep pushing back against solutions that will work.

For half a century, the Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) has been fighting for justice for our people. Preventing deaths in custody is our priority. We need you to raise your voices alongside us. Together, we're too loud to ignore.

Every life is precious. No one should die alone and afraid on a cold prison floor.
