About the Role
You will be a key member of our HR team, responsible for driving our talent strategy to attract, engage, and retain top talent across the organisation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will not only develop and execute recruitment strategies but also manage end-to-end recruitment activities, ensuring they align with ALS's strategic objectives
You will lead and mentor a dynamic recruitment team, foster resilience, and cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Your role will be pivotal in supporting ALS’s growth.

Born out of a protest movement over 50 years ago, the ALS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW and the ACT. It’s an exciting time to be joining us. We recently received additional funding to deliver a range of new programs aimed at addressing systemic issues and driving structural reforms. What We’re Looking For:
- Proven Recruitment Expertise: Experience in end-to-end recruitment, including high-volume and complex projects.
- Strategic Talent Management: Ability to develop and implement talent acquisition strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Leadership and Mentorship Skills: Experience leading and developing recruitment teams of all sizes and complexity, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) such as JobAdder and data-driven recruitment strategies.
- Resilience and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Cultural Competence: Understanding and respect for Aboriginal cultural practices, values, and community needs.
Desirable:
You bring a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities and/or have lived experience that enhances your ability to connect and engage effectively.
