About the role

The primary responsibility of the Administration Officer, Care & Protection/Family Law Practice is to assist in the delivery of high-quality legal support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

The position holder will be responsible for:

  • Maintain office standards for timeliness in the management of client matters
  • Data management
  • Provide high level of secretarial support 
  • Liaise with clients and professionals, including, Solicitors, Court Staff, Corrective Services, other staff members
  • Demonstrate continuing respect and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practices in dealing with clients, their families, communities and staff; as an employee of the ALS, continue to learn about the customs and history of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Your skills and experience

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or be accepted as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which you live
  • Proven computer systems skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook 
  • Excellent phone manner and culturally appropriate communication skills when speaking with clients
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
