Primary purpose of the role
The primary responsibility of the Relief Unit Administration Coordinator is to provide high quality administrative support services, to ensure the delivery of culturally appropriate criminal law services to Aboriginal clients.
The support services to be provided by the position holder will include:
- Providing assistance, support and advice to ALS Managing Lawyers and relief solicitors in the management of state-wide criminal relief unit
- Provide general administrative support for ALS offices in a ‘relieving capacity’ as required
- Provide general day-to-day administrative support to the crime practice at their base location office

About You
The successful incumbent will demonstrate:
- Knowledge and appreciation of the cultural and social needs of Aboriginal people combined with continuing respect and support for Aboriginal cultural practices in dealing with clients, their families, communities, and staff
- Proven interpersonal, communication, negotiation and people management skills and ability to provide quality customer service in high volume work environment
- Highly developed office administration and support services skills and adherence to the requirements of confidentiality
- Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with demonstrated advanced computer skills and ability to provide guidance to other staff members
- Ability to meet deadlines, work without supervision and manage a diverse workload, together with high level conceptual and practical skills
- Ability to interrupt and apply ALS policies, procedures, and guidelines
