Since opening its doors in 1970 the ALS has continued to thrive on volunteer effort. Each year we celebrate over 1500 hours of volunteering. We thank the many thousands of volunteers who have donated their services to the ALS.

Volunteer in Care and Protection / Family law

Aboriginal Legal Service (NSW/ACT) is offering law students the opportunity to volunteer with our Care and Protection / Family Law Practice.

The Care and Protection / Family Law Practice provides advice, referrals and representation in Children’s Court’s, Federal Circuit Court’s and the Family Court of Australia. We also represent clients in adoption proceedings before the Supreme Court. We can assist in mediation between parties, and negotiate Consent Orders or Parenting Plans.

Students at the Care and Protection / Family Law Practice are involved in a range of activities including research, court attendance, file management, preparing and filing documents, assisting solicitors with taking instructions and attending community legal education forums.

Volunteer opportunities are available for an immediate start in our ALS offices in Newcastle, Lismore, Wollongong and Parramatta, NSW.

If you are interested in applying for this volunteer opportunity, please contact our Regional Administration Coordinator for an information package:
